The Cereal Box is a cavalcade of various art projects, comics, and commentary on the cartoons that defined a generation.
Stone sword:
This is the first few pages so far of a short silent comic project I’ve been working on titled “Stone Sword. “ This was a project I started only recently and thought it would be a good introduction as well as much needed practice in story telling without the need for dialogue. Inspired by” Chrono trigger” from square and art by Akira Toriyama and the manga “Gon (ゴン ) by Masashi Tanaka and “Legend of Zelda ocarina of time”. I always like the idea of the silent hero , and I hope you can see some of the references in stone sword design. Gon is a manga that has no words but a highly detailed story of a small little t-rex like dinosaur in a world after his time surviving and ruling the planet having adventures and never backing down despite his size. It is one of the most beautiful drawn pieces of art ever to be created.
High fantasy is one of my favorite genres or sub genres. Playing the character of chrono or link as a teen was the escapism I needed. It provided me a launching point then for stories and ideas along with various other fantasy series like berserk, lord of the rings, conan the barbarian, pirates of black water, dragon ball, etc
Stone sword is about a halfling creature, one of a rare breed of beastmen in this world who people valued learning and wandering the earth. Using his craftskills and stories of old he wanders this world to find a dead stone golem from long ago. Creating and forging his sword from his remains. The story has a beginning, middle and end unsure how many pages it will be or how consistent I will be with competition as I do have several other comics I plan to post and laid up over the weeks as well. However, Stone sword first chapter and intro will be here for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy and I’ll be posting more commentary about various ideas and info as I progress through the chapters.
What’s coming
Currently I have several short one shots that I will upload later as well as a zine for a prior project I will upload and sell copies of the zine later in future e-store. I have several merch ideas I hope to share and I am planning to do some streaming and posting of myself drawing in the next few weeks via youtube.
